Learning to trust Him in the silence. Good morning, ZoeLovers. 💛
Before the day gets busy, before the notifications start coming in, before you begin thinking about everything you need to accomplish this week, take a moment.
Just breathe.You made it to another Sunday.
And perhaps, somewhere in your heart, there is a prayer you've been carrying for a while. Maybe you've prayed about your career.
Your finances.
Your relationship.
Your family.
Your health.
Your dreams.
Maybe you've even asked God the same question repeatedly:
“Lord, when will something finally change?”
And the hardest part isn't necessarily that things haven't changed. It's that God seems quiet.
You pray.
Silence.
You wait.
Nothing.
You try again.
Still nothing.
And eventually, you begin wondering:
“Is God even listening?”
If you've ever felt that way, you're not alone.
Sometimes silence isn't absence.
We often mistake God's silence for God's absence. But they aren't the same thing.
A parent doesn't stop loving a child simply because they aren't speaking every second.
And God's silence doesn't mean He has abandoned you.
There are seasons when God speaks loudly. And there are seasons when He seems incredibly quiet. Both seasons can be part of the journey. Think about a seed, When you plant it in the ground, you don't immediately see anything happening.
Days pass. The soil looks exactly the same. You could easily assume nothing is happening. But underneath the surface, something is taking place.
Roots are forming.
Life is developing.
Growth is happening where your eyes cannot see it. Perhaps that's where you are right now. Something may be happening beneath the surface.
Isaiah 40:31
“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.”
Notice that the verse doesn't say those who understand everything will renew their strength. It says those who hope.
Hope means trusting God even when you don't have all the answers.
And perhaps that's what faith really looks like sometimes.
Not having an explanation.
Not knowing when.
Not knowing how.
But still saying:
“God, I trust You.”
You don't have to have everything figured out. We live in a world that constantly makes us feel behind.
Someone is getting married.
Someone is buying a house.
Someone is travelling.
Someone just got promoted.
Someone launched a business.
Someone is having a baby.
Someone is relocating.
Someone is posting their latest achievement.
And suddenly, you look at your own life and think:
“What am I doing?”
But ZoeLover, please remember this:
Your life is not late simply because someone else's life moved faster. God did not give everybody the same timeline.
You are allowed to grow slowly.
You are allowed to start again.
You are allowed to change direction.
You are allowed to discover yourself.
You are allowed to admit that the plan you had at 21 isn't the plan you want at 27.
You are allowed to begin again at 30.
Or 40.
Or 50.
There is no expiration date on purpose
Ecclesiastes 3:11
“He has made everything beautiful in its time.”
In its time.
Not necessarily your time.
Not necessarily the time you expected.
But His time.
And I know that can be difficult to accept.
Because sometimes we don't want God's timing.
We want our timing.
We want the job now.
The relationship now.
The money now.
The breakthrough now.
The answer now.
But perhaps some of the things we're asking God to hurry are things He is asking us to prepare for. Because receiving something before you're ready for it can be just as painful as not receiving it at all.
🌿 Maybe God is preparing you too. We spend so much time asking:
“God, when will You give me this?”
But perhaps another question is:
“God, who do You want me to become before I receive it?”
That question changes everything. Maybe you're praying for a successful business. But God is teaching you discipline.
Maybe you're praying for a healthy relationship.But God is teaching you boundaries.
Maybe you're praying for financial abundance.But God is teaching you stewardship.
Maybe you're praying for influence. But God is teaching you humility.
Maybe you're praying for a bigger platform.
But God is teaching you how to be faithful with the little audience you already have.
Sometimes the preparation feels like punishment because we don't recognise it as preparation.
🕊️ Don't despise your small beginning. We often celebrate finished products.We rarely celebrate beginnings.
But every great thing begins somewhere.
A business begins with an idea.
A career begins with learning.
A relationship begins with a conversation.
A book begins with one sentence.
A ministry begins with one person willing to serve.
A dream begins quietly.
So don't look at your small beginning and call it insignificant.
Small doesn't mean meaningless.
It simply means you're at the beginning.
Zechariah 4:10
“Do not despise these small beginnings.”
Perhaps today's assignment isn't to change your entire life. Perhaps it's simply to take one step.
Send the email.
Make the phone call.
Submit the application.
Start the course.
Write the first page.
Apologise.
Forgive.
Rest.
Pray.
Try again.
Sometimes the miracle isn't a giant leap.
Sometimes the miracle is finding the courage to take another small step.
❤️ And if you're tired… I want you to hear this part carefully. You don't always have to be strong. You don't have to pretend that everything is fine.
You can tell God:
“I'm tired.”
You can tell Him:
“I don't understand.”
You can tell Him:
“I'm disappointed.”
You can tell Him:
“I'm scared.”
You can even tell Him:
“I don't know if I can do this anymore.”
God isn't intimidated by your honesty.
Prayer doesn't have to sound perfect.
Sometimes the most powerful prayer is simply: “Lord, help me.”
And He understands.
Matthew 11:28
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Not “Come when you've fixed yourself.”
Not “Come when you have everything together.”
Simply: Come.
Come tired.
Come confused.
Come hopeful.
Come disappointed.
Come with questions.
Come with tears.
Just come.
What if this season is not the end?
Perhaps you've been looking at your current situation and thinking: “This is how my story ends.” But you don't know that.
You're reading one chapter. God sees the entire book. A difficult chapter can still belong to a beautiful story. A season of rejection can precede acceptance. A season of waiting can precede movement. A season of loneliness can precede meaningful relationships. A season of uncertainty can precede clarity.
And sometimes, the chapter that made you cry becomes the chapter you later look back on and say:
“Now I understand why I had to go through that.”
Your reminder this Sunday
ZoeLover, wherever you are this morning, remember:
You are not forgotten.
Your life isn't meaningless.
Your dreams aren't foolish simply because they're taking time.
Your journey doesn't have to look like anybody else's.
You don't have to compete with another person's timeline.
And you don't have to understand everything to keep moving.
If God feels quiet right now, don't immediately assume He's gone.
Keep praying.
Keep growing.
Keep working.
Keep becoming.
Keep trusting.
And when you cannot see the road ahead, take the next step you can see. That's enough for today.
A LITTLE SUNDAY PRAYER
Dear Creator,
Thank You for bringing us into another day.
For the ZoeLover reading this right now, You know what they are carrying.
You know the prayers they've spoken out loud and the ones they've kept hidden in their hearts.
For the person waiting, give them patience.
For the person tired, give them strength.
For the person confused, give them wisdom.
For the person afraid, give them courage.
For the person who has almost given up, remind them that their story isn't over.
Help us not to compare our journeys.
Teach us to trust Your timing.
And when You seem silent, help us remember that silence doesn't mean abandonment. Give us the courage to take the next step.
One day at a time.
One prayer at a time.
One breath at a time.
