BEFORE THE WEEK BEGINS: AN HOUR WITH THE CREATOR

One hour, One quiet moment, A chance to breathe, reflect and reconnect.

There is something special about Sunday morning. The world feels a little quieter. The rush hasn't completely begun. Before the notifications, deadlines, responsibilities and plans of another week take over, there is a beautiful opportunity to simply be still.

“Be still, and know that I am God.”
Psalm 46:10

Perhaps Sunday morning is an invitation to do exactly that.

Not to have all the answers.
Not to have everything figured out.
Just to pause.

Welcome to An Hour With the Creator, Zoe's Gem Magazine's Sunday morning space for reflection, gratitude, faith and honest conversations about life.

What are you carrying into this new week?

Sometimes we walk into a new week carrying the disappointments of the previous one.

An unanswered prayer.
A failed plan.
A relationship that didn't work out.
A dream that seems to be taking too long.

And when everyone around us seems to be moving forward, it can be difficult not to wonder, “God, when is it going to be my turn?”

But Scripture reminds us:

“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.”
Ecclesiastes 3:1

Your journey doesn't have to look like somebody else's. You are not behind simply because your story is unfolding differently.

Sometimes what we call delay may simply be a season of preparation. And while we may not understand everything happening around us, we can choose to trust the One who sees the bigger picture.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”
Proverbs 3:5

You don't have to carry everything alone.

Perhaps this Sunday, instead of worrying about everything that could go wrong this week, give those worries somewhere else to go.

Give them to God.

Your plans.
Your finances.
Your family.
Your career.
Your relationships.
Your dreams.
Your fears.

The Bible says:

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
1 Peter 5:7

What a beautiful reminder: you are cared for. Even when you don't have the words.

Even when you don't know what to pray. Even when all you can say is, “God, help me.”

Before the week begins… pause.

Take a moment today.

Put your phone down.

Take a deep breath.

Look back at the week that has passed and find something to be grateful for. It may not have been perfect, but you're still here. And sometimes, that's a reason to say thank You.

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18

Then look ahead. Don't ask only, “What can I achieve this week?”

Ask:

“Who do I want to become?”

“What do I need to surrender?”

“Where do I need God's wisdom?”

Because sometimes the prayer we need isn't “God, make my week easy.”

Sometimes it's:

“God, give me the strength, wisdom and grace to walk through whatever comes.”

And Scripture gives us this assurance:

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault.”
James 1:5

So, as another week begins, don't rush.

Breathe.

Pray.

Be grateful.

Begin again.

You may not know what this week holds, but you don't have to walk into it alone.

“The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”
Psalm 121:8

A little Sunday prayer

God, thank You for bringing us this far.

As we step into a new week, give us wisdom where we are uncertain, strength where we are tired, peace where we are anxious and courage where we are afraid. Help us to trust You even when we cannot see the entire picture.

Guide our decisions, protect the people we love and help us become better versions of ourselves.

May this week bring us closer to You, closer to purpose and closer to the people we are becoming.

Amen.
