‪#‎ABUSIVE_RELATIONSHIP‬
If you’re in an abusive
relationship, your risk of
getting HIV is
higher.

Abusive men
often have more than
one sexual partner and
the women in these
relationships have no
control.
Women who live in fear
of their partners are
less likley to insist on
condom use, less likely
to get tested for HIV
and STIs and less likley
to seek help or
treatment for
HIV&AIDS. For a lot of
abused women, the
fear of violence stops
them from insisting on
condom use. Fear of
violence also keeps
some women from
seeking treatment for
HIV or other STIs.
Women may delay being
tested for HIV or not
get the results because
they are afraid that
sharing their HIV-
positive status may
result in physical
violence. HIV positive
women are also at risk
of violence from their
partners if they disclose
their HIV status.
