Shooting star is a common name for the visible path of a meteoroid as it enters the atmosphere,becoming a meteor. From a meteoroid to a meteor and meteorite, as a meteoroid enters the atmosphere to becomes visible as a meteor and impact the earth's surface as a meteorite. A meteoroid is a small rocky or metallic body travelling through space.
Shooting stars has nothing at all to do with star! These amazing streaks of light you can sometimes see in the night sky are caused by tiny bits of dust and rocks.
There's a question for all... Do we still need to make wishes on shooting stars?
